About Grim Realm Publishing

Grim Realm Publishing continues to strive although, the struggle is quite daunting. This first story has been in creation for over twenty years; refined and reworked in its entirety due to the demise of its intended niche. It is hopeful that fans of the mentioned niche will experience some sense of familiarity despite ambiguous attempts to rename things in the hopes to avoid copyright infringements. Initially, this story was written in the hopes to help expand the aforementioned world but alas, we missed the boat! So now the story has been completely revamped and we are admittedly, pleased with the inaugural first book so far!

Maedynn, Augustra and Voidrinn are the worlds which Grim Realm shall focus on. It is intended to allow other writers and artists to help give shape to these worlds. Anything goes just about, as far as creature creations, monster creations and even racial creations. These three new worlds offer a clean slate for imaginative creation.

Writers who wish to create their own storyline or build on the existing storyline now shaping into existence are encouraged to do so. Of course, we shall review said works first and if they are a suitable fit, then they shall be incorporated into the Grim Realm line. As for Augustra and Voidrinn, these worlds (as well as Maedynn) allow for completely new creatures and diversities! This means that anything goes as far as writers' imaginings; provided it suits the timeline. For example, spaceships and laser guns currently have no place in these realms and yet, Gnomish or Goblin derivatives may be applied...

We are just starting out so of course, the logo design is rough at best yet, the dark theme captures the aspect and portent of Grim Realm. Eventually, Grim Realm may experience upgrades and yet, if fans and viewers alike find the site (and logo) appealing, then things most likely will not change.

Lair Lords (also known as Campaign Masters, Dungeon Masters, etc.) may eventually find or create campaign worthy materials comprised of areas, characters or creatures. Artists are encouraged to help provide visual aids to the worlds of Maedynn, Augustra and Voidrinn, whether their vision is the result of reading or merely spawned from an excellent imagination!

We hope that Lair Lords will find worthy content to start campaign modules of their own. Gaming consoles and computers are limited to their programming which is why there are still countless "campaign runners" out there. Imagination has no limits and gaming consoles or computer games cannot account for, nor allow for the diversities of the human imagination. Pen and Paper campaigns are wide open, without constraints because, like our own world, we have the freedom to explore possibilities and potentials. So if a Lair Lord has an idea for a campaign, we hope to share in that!

About Grim Realm

Greetings and well met! Take respite as you sojourn a moment and learn of the lore of new beginnings!

Twenty autumns have passed since the Soul War. The abandoned moons, left orphaned where the world had originally presided, were recovered even as the Evil Goddess was punished to an existence of mortality. Her mortality was short-lived for she was slain by a crazed Elf in the arena where the Gods had placed her.

The moons had been placed but had not been properly situated as they should have been, for the Gods were distracted in their efforts to restore balance and punish the Evil Goddess for stealing their world away. The moons drifted toward Maedynn and a great conjunction occurred as the four celestial bodies "bumped" into each other. Maedynn literally breathed new life into the moons as atmosphere, water, vegetation, beasts, fowl and mortals were transferred to the newly forming planets.

The red moon was destroyed in the process as the moons and Maedynn recoiled apart; the black and white moons cannibalized the red moon, gathering its mass unto their own, leaving only the red moon's core adrift in space. The dead core of the red moon now served as a tiny moon circling the newly formed moon-planets and Maedynn.

As the dust settles upon the three worlds, the new worlds of Augustra and Voidrinn and their unwilling inhabitants begin to evolve, Maedynn continues to endure the brunt of the Soul War aftermath.

The heavens have become isolated from the worlds as the God Wars begin, leaving the inhabitants of the three worlds to fend for themselves.

Maedynn is a darker, more foreboding world than it had been yet, that does not mean there shall be a lack of love, joy and laughter. After all, the merriment of the Dhurkenkin is nearly impossible to quash! Three new worlds, heroes, villains, creatures, monsters and adventures await those who wish to peruse these new archives! More adventures will follow soon after...

Three New Worlds Await...

Maedynn, Augustra and Voidrinn

The three moons "kissed" their mother, Maedynn when the conjunction occurred, destroying the red moon as they overzealously nuzzled into the warmth and nurturing life of their mother. The dead core of the red moon remains, seemingly circling merrily around the three new worlds like a shy child, flitting from one protective adult to the next as if trying to hide from strangers. Unanimously, this small moon has been named Harminn which signifies balance.

Augustra

Augustra is the result of the White Moon and the Red Moon combined. Waters on this world are of a violet hue; the crater ocean created when the moon "bumped" against Maedynn is the most prominent feature on this world. This is one of three worlds which shall grow and flourish as stories unfold. Augustra continues to represent Good yet, the elements of neutrality and evil have also been blended, making them all one.

Maedynn

Maedynn is the Mother of All for from her, Maedynn and Voidrinn were born. New creatures and races will soon follow, along with new adventures. Maedynn still possesses her nostalgic familiarity and charm but it has become tainted as surely as the two new moon-worlds. Maedynn continues to represent life and also has come to represent neutrality however, good and evil also preside on Maedynn with equal influences.

Voidrinn

Voidrinn is the result of the Black Moon and Red Moon merging. This planet is a new addition, birthed from Maedynn and granted new life. Voidrinn may represent Evil yet there will still be aspects of good and neutrality since all three alignments have indelibly blended. After all, there cannot be good without neutral or evil and vice versa. If only one existed, it would turn inward upon itself and surely die.
